- Deputy Secretary Ron Sims, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, visited the Green Impact Zone office and met with about 45 area housing and elected officials. Sims was in town to announce two grants, one of which includes $120,000 for

- Following a competitive bid process, the Green Impact Zone selected APD Urban Planning and Management, a minority-owned firm based in Jacksonville, Fla., that has experience working in the zone, to offer technical assistance and expertise on housing issues.
- The Green Impact Zone and Brush Creek Community Partners worked with the local chapter of the American Meteorological Society to place 20 weather-alert radios in community facilities in the zone. More>
- The Low-Income Weatherization Assistance Program will provide energy assessments and improvements at no charge to qualified homeowners and renters in the Green Impact Zone and surrounding SmartGrid Demonstration Area. Learn more>

- $20 million grant for energy retrofits announced: On Wednesday, April 21, Vice-President Joe Biden announced a $20 million grant that is expected to help many homeowners and business owners manage energy costs, in the Green Impact Zone and several other Kansas City neighborhoods. More>
- TIGER roars into town with $50 million grant: Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood visited Kansas City and the Green Impact Zone on Feb. 17 to announce $1.5 billion in TIGER (Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery) grants, including $50 million for the Kansas City region. More>
