Low-Income Weatherization Assistance Program

Why have your home weatherized?

Green Impact Zone residents may be able to get weatherization assistance through one of two programs:

To receive no-cost assistance through these programs, you'll need to meet certain qualifications. Priority is given to the elderly, families with children, people with high energy bills and people with disabilities.

If you qualify, a certified energy auditor will check your home for things that may be causing high energy bills. The auditor will be able to tell if you need more insulation, if you have air leaks around doors and windows, if your furnace and air conditioner are working properly and much more.

Next, a certified contractor will make energy improvements to your home. The Low-Income Weatherization Assistance Program can pay for things like caulking to seal air leaks; adding insulation to floors, walls and attics; cleaning and tuning of furnaces and air conditioners; and water heater upgrades and pipe insulation. In some circumstances, replacement of furnaces and air conditioners may be covered.
