Low-Income Weatherization Assistance Program
To qualify for no-cost assistance, you'll need to meet requirements for residency and annual income. (If you are a landlord, click here for program information.)
Residency Requirements
- The city of Kansas City's Low-Income Weatherization Assistance Program is open to qualified applicants who live in the city limits, including the Green Impact Zone. Call 816-513-3025.
- Working Families' Friend offers weatherization assistance to qualified applicants who live in the area from Broadway to I-435 and Truman Road to Swope Parkway, which also includes the Green Impact Zone. Call 816-842-6500.
If you outside these areas, you may still qualify for other weatherization programs through local utility companies and EnergyWorks KC. We invite you to contact the Kansas City Action Center by dialing 3-1-1 to get connected to other resources. You can also stay informed of local energy initiatives by going to www.marc.org/energy.

Income Requirements
If your household receives Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI), you automatically meet the income requirements. If you do not, but your household is at or below the income guidelines at right, you are still eligible.
Please note, priority is also given to the elderly, families with children, people with high energy bills and people with disabilities.
Previous Weatherization Limits
If your home has previously been weatherized through an assistance program paid for with federal funds, you may not be eligible. The city of Kansas City's program cannot accept applicants who have received weatherization assistance after 1994. Working Families' Friend cannot accept applicants who have received assistance after 2002.
